Thanks to the assistance of all those who came out to help, the club now has a number of new curlers ready to tryout some of their new found skills.  If there are any others that would like to refresh their skills, why not check out the intermediate clinics that start November 27.  For more information check out the What's New Page

The RACC has decided to organize an Open Doubles League on Thursdays at times alternating with the Women's Fixed League.

Doubles (also referred to as Scotch Doubles) is a game played by two person teams. It is a fast paced game that can often be played in one hour once you learn the rules. The format is very popular in Europe and has been played as Mixed Doubles at the Continental Cup. There have also been Mixed Doubles World Championships held the past two years.

The rules we will use are described HERE.

If you are interested please contact Greg Kresko as soon as possible.  If we get some quick responses, the league could start on Thursday, October 20. If there is enough interest, we can also decide whether to add a cash entry for prize distribution.

Please note that while we don't want to discourage participation, DOUBLES CURLING is a format that works best for experienced players.

Website modifications are being made to create a new "Winners Circle", a Photo Album and a Trophy Case.  While these changes are being made some links may not work properly.

adoptarockAdopt-A-Rock

There still a few orphan rocks looking to join your family!

Although many of us will never see our names on trophies or banners, we now have an opportunity to see our name on a curling rock handle! You may choose to honour an individual or family name (up to two lines, 20 characters per line).

In addition to your name each handle will include the sheet and player number. This is a great way to support the club, and see your name on the ice. What a great birthday or Christmas gift idea!

$200 a pair with the same inscription on each rock $125 for a single rock. You can have your stone reflect a part of you for a maximum of 5 years duration. (All stones/handles are exclusive property of the RA Centre.) This offer is available to individuals, teams or leagues; and is not extended to corporate sponsors. A deposit of $100 cash, cheque or credit card through the RA will be required when your order is confirmed. The balance will be due upon receipt of the handles.

Profits from the sale of the engraved rock handles are at the discretion of the Recreation Association who generously supports our club and offsets our annual deficit. Catch the progress on the Adopt-a-Rock campaign in the Curling lounge, club newsletters, the fall information meetings, and our website.  To request additional information or to place your order contact Mark Fish using the phone, fax or email address listed below.
